Mint Incense: Clarity for Mind and Spirit
Smoking with Mint calms and sharpens our mind simultaneously. When we are plagued by a lack of concentration, Mint helps us get back on our feet. But a Mint incense ritual is also a faithful companion when dealing with bad room energies.
Escaping the Thought Labyrinth When we feel drained and highly nervous, this incense calms us, allowing us to lean back, relax, and enjoy our existence. We see things more clearly, and our intellect processes them better. We free ourselves from our self-constructed “Thought Labyrinth” and can solve problems where we previously overthought and could not find a “thinking end.” Its Plant Spirit gives us strength and clears our mind to accomplish new deeds.
Cleansing and Protective Properties
The properties of Mint in fumigation are healing, exorcising (banishing), clearing, but also protective. Therefore, dried Mint can also be mixed into incense blends for protection. In such blends, Mint clears the air—literally and spiritually.
The Salt Water Ritual for Old Houses: This herb is particularly suitable for smoking out old houses. There is a specific method for this:
Soak whole Mint branches in salt water.
Walk from room to room with these wet branches.
Sprinkle (asperge) the cleansing salt water around the room.
By sprinkling salt water, you cleanse the rooms of negative energies.
We know similar scenes from Christian customs, where holy water is sprinkled to bless a space.

Application and Suitable Mint Varieties
Mint blends wonderfully with Lavender and Rosemary for an incense mixture. For such a blend, the dried and chopped mint herb (stems, leaves, flowers) is used.
Mints Suitable for Incense (High Menthol Content):
Peppermint (Mentha x piperita)
Spearmint / Curly Mint (Mentha spicata var. crispa)
Spanish Mint
Suitable Native Wild Mints:
Corn Mint (Mentha arvensis)
Pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium)
Horse Mint (Mentha longifolia)
Water Mint (Mentha aquatica)
Unsuitable Varieties: Fruit mints with low menthol content are less effective for this purpose:
Pineapple Mint, Strawberry Mint, or Banana Mint.
