Spruce Resin Smoke: Clearing the Spirit & House Blessing
When true frankincense was rare to find in earlier times, or when one simply could not afford the precious resin, spruce resin was used for sacred smoke-cleansings as a worthy substitute. From this deep tradition comes its ancestral name: Forest Frankincense (Waldweihrauch) or the poor man’s frankincense.
The Whole Tree: For smoke-cleansing with the spruce, the needles, the wood, and the resin can all be respectfully used.
Ancestral Cleansing: In earlier times, this incense was actively burned as a powerful cleansing or disinfecting smoke. Back then, it was a very common incense against spreading epidemics, much like the famous plague smoke.
Healing the Air: Spruce resin has a strong germicidal effect and can therefore effectively disinfect the room air. This is exactly why spruce resin is also gladly burned to actively cleanse houses of bad, lingering energies.
Winter’s Protection: Smoke-cleansing with spruce resin profoundly disinfects the air in the room and is strongly germ-reducing. In the Old Beliefs, therefore, a smoke-cleansing with spruce resin was always used during the cold seasons, starting around autumn, to gently soothe physical complaints.
How Does Smoke-Cleansing with Spruce Resin Affect Our Spirit?
Smoke-cleansing with spruce resin beautifully helps us to find deep rest when things get a little more hectic in our lives. It invigorates our tired senses and has a very euphoric, uplifting effect on our soul.
Dissolving the Dark: This sacred smoke fiercely protects us from negative foreign energies (they literally dissolve into thin air) and builds us up from the inside out. Through this, we receive renewed, bright momentum to finally complete postponed matters.
Silencing the Gossip: If you have the certainty, or even just the deep suspicion, that a person is speaking ill of you, you can safely burn spruce resin. Through this, this bad foreign energy is completely invalidated, brought to an absolute standstill, and potentially even sent back to its originator.
Blessing a New Home: Also, when moving into a new house, the individual rooms should be thoroughly smoke-cleansed with spruce resin so that everything old dissolves and bright, welcoming space for the new can be created.

Spruce Needle Tea for Inner Clarity
To completely clear our mind before a smoke ritual, a magical spruce needle tea can be carefully prepared:
The Forest Infusion:
Soak exactly 10 g of fresh spruce needles in water overnight.
Afterwards, bring the water to a brief boil.
Let it steep for at least 10 full minutes.
Filter the needles out, sweeten it with a little golden honey as you please, and enjoy it in silence.
Blending an Incense with Spruce Resin
A spruce smoke-cleansing smells very strongly of the deep coniferous forest and thereby beautifully invigorates all our senses.
Ancestral Blends: All parts of the spruce beautifully blend with juniper wood (Wacholderholz) and the mistletoe (Mistel) to create a highly powerful and protective incense.
The Magic of Time: Spruce resin should ideally be stored and dried for at least one full year. The longer, the better. For only through the passing years can the sacred resin fully unfold its true magic.
The Forest Smoke: For our great-grandparents, it was the true forest smoke (Waldrauch). They respectfully gathered the golden resin directly from ancient anthills in the deep woods.
